Gaffer Reflects On 'Enjoyable' Trip
With the City camp back in England following their pre-season tour of South West France, Head Coach John Schofield says that he is pleased with the four days spent abroad.
The Imps played twice during their trip to France, defeating Genêts d'Anglet 2-1 and Pau 1-0 in what were keenly-contested encounters, particularly the latter which saw the impressive Steve Torpey net his first goal in City colours and, apart from the odd off-field hiccup, Schofield was pleased with the way the tour went.
"It's been really enjoyable," said Schofield.
"We've been looked after well, we've had two good games and it's been a good exercise.
"We had one or two mishaps and one or two lapses in commmunication but it's all thrown into the mix. Like when you're out on the pitch you've just got to blank it out, get on with it and make the best of it.
"Overall the tour was a success and we even had a bit of sun on the Tuesday so we'll come back with a bit of a tan but on a serious note the lads trained well, they've been together for four days and had two good tests.
"We got a bit too involved in the nonsense first half (against Pau) but were more disciplined second half and got our rewards
"It was good to see the lads looking strong and fresh towards the end. They were still running strong, still squeezing out and still trying to get beyond people. That's all good for our fitness levels."
