Yeovil-born goalkeeper Rob Burch started his career as a trainee with Tottenham Hotspur, turning professional in the summer of 2002, although during his five year spell at White Hart Lane the nearest he got to first team action was as a substitute, although he did appear in a number of pre-season friendlies, most notably in South Africa on Tottenham's tour to promote the country's campaign for the World Cup in 2010.
Having made his England U20 bow against Germany, Rob was loaned out to Woking and Stevenage Borough (twice) in the Conference to gain some first-team experience, whilst he also found himself as an unused first team substitute for both West Ham United and Bristol City during loan spells at both clubs.
Rob played a key role for Spurs' development group who won the Barclays Premiership Reserve League South in 2006 but a broken leg sustained in the Reserve League play-off final against Manchester United in May 2006 saw him out of action for some time.
Once he had regained fitness he joined Barnet on an emergency loan and made his Football League debut in a 1-1 draw at Notts County on January 30th 2007. He went on to play six times for the Bees and after he was released from his contract by Tottenham he signed for Sheffield Wednesday during the following summer.
Rob made his Wednesday debut in a 2-1 Carling Cup second round victory over Hartlepool United whilst he appeared twice in The Championship for the Owls but found himself released by manager Brian Laws at the end of the 2007/08 season.
Manager Peter Jackson beat off the challenge of a number of clubs to secure Rob's services on a two-year contract.
