Youngsters Raise Funds For Jacko
Youngsters from Welton Youth Centre have raised just under £1,000 for Peter Jackson's chosen charity.
Youngsters from Graham Matthews Memorial Youth Centre presented the Club with a cheque for £915 at last weekend's Community Day for a charity of Peter Jackson's choice.
The presentation followed months of hard work from the group who ran a wide range of fund raising activities in support of the Imps boss.
"I'd like to thank all of them for all the hard work and effort they've put into raising this fantastic amount. The money raised will go towards Yorkshire Cancer Centre and I know that they'll be extremely grateful for the much needed funds," said Jacko.
Ian Leighton, who has been coordinating the group, said, "As soon as they found out that Peter Jackson was diagnosed with throat cancer they wanted to show their support by raising money through different activities.
He added, "They worked really hard on Sunday at the Community Day to raise money through a beat the goalkeeper competition and face painting, and it's great that they've raised so much."
The group will now be invited along by the Club as Peter Jackson's guests for the first home game of the season against Dagenham & Redbridge where they will present Jacko with the cheque.
