Teenager Martin Pembleton's season has come to an abrupt halt due to a knee injury sustained at Morecambe on Saturday.

Midfielder Pembleton was forced off during the second half of the 2-1 win at Christie Park after injuring his left knee as he went to meet a Jamie Forrester cross in the Morecambe penalty area.

He was forced to leave the field on a stretcher and left the ground on crutches and physio Michael Wait has confirmed that the 17-year-old's season is over with one game to go.

"Martin has strained medial ligaments in his left knee and it's an injury which would normally rule a player out for between four and six weeks," revealed Wait.

"He'll more than likely undergo a scan just to make sure there's no further damage inside his knee, but one thing's for sure and that's that he'll be keeping me company throughout May."
