Ayden Duffy became our first substitute goalkeeper in the Football League for six years on Saturday when he replaced the injured Alan Marriott early on at Chester City.

With Marriott forced off shortly after the quarter-hour mark at the Deva Stadium having tweaked his hamstring during the pre-match warm-up, it gave Duffy the chance to make his Football League bow.

Marriott's injury saw Duffy, who joined the Club's Centre of Excellence at under-12 level, become our first substitute goalkeeper in the League since Darren Horrigan, who came on for Marriott against Southend United at Sincil Bank in March 2002.

Steve Sherwood became our first goalkeeper to appear from the bench when he replaced the injured Andy Leaning at Wigan Athletic in April 1995 with the only other one being Matthew Ghent who came on for Marriott at Carlisle United in December 2000.
