One Game, One Community
We will be coming together with communities of all races, cultures and religious beliefs to back the unifying message 'One Game, One Community' this month, by holding a day of action at Sincil Bank Stadium.
The match against Peterborough United on Saturday 20 October 2007 will be the Club's designated Kick It Out game and this game will be one of 1,000 events taking place across the country during the Kick It Out week of action.
All 92 Premier League and Football League clubs, as well as some non-League clubs will also hold activities to support the period, which will run between 18-30 October.
The week of action has been co-ordinated by football's anti-racism and inclusion campaign, Kick It Out, as part of the game's ongoing contribution to promote greater inclusion in the game.
The Imps are proud to be getting behind the message 'One Game, One Community' as part of the Club's commitment to promoting inclusion in the game and working alongside all communities to kick racism out of football.
Running up to the day the Club will be offering children the chance to design a 'One Game, One Community' poster. Club officials will then choose one poster to be published in the award winning match day programme against Peterborough United.
On the day of the Peterborough game players from both clubs will be warming up in 'One Game, One Community' t-shirts and there will be 'One Game, One Community' stickers and leaflets available around the ground. Our ball boys will also be wearing the special t-shirts.
Following the match our Football in the Community department will be running holiday courses with a difference at Sincil Bank Stadium. During the courses there will be a chance for the children to discuss racism in football and, thanks to local radio station Lincs FM 102.2, they also receive Kick It Out goodies and leaflets. A number of City players will also be on hand to add their views and comments in the sessions.
City Chairman, Steff Wright, highlighted the importance of the Kick It Out week of action.
"As a community club it is our responsibility to encourage the wide range of groups in our community to watch and take part in football in the Lincoln area," he said.
"The Club is continually working in the community and events such as the Kick It Out week are a fantastic way to highlight this even further."
Lord Herman Ouseley, Chairman of Kick It Out, added: "We should be proud of the progress we have made in challenging racism in the UK, and the work we are all doing to be open and inclusive.
"The Week of Action will celebrate the contribution all communities have made to the game and offer an opportunity for a symbolic stand against all forms of discrimination."
