Liverpool-born George Hannah is considered by many to have been one of the most skilful players to appear for the Imps in the post-WW2 period.

He arrived with a sound background in top class football having spent seven years with Newcastle United, scoring the winning goal for the Magpies in the 1955 FA Cup Final.

He stayed almost exactly 12 months at Sincil Bank, scoring four times in 38 appearances, before returning to the First Division with Manchester City.

His career aggregate was 374 Football League games plus one as substitute over 17 seasons during which he was honoured by being selected for several FA tours including West Africa (1957), the Far East (1961) and New Zealand (1964).

On leaving football he ran a newsagents shop in Manchester and later worked for British Telecom. He died in May 1990 aged 61.
