Harry Troops began his career as a centre-forward with Barnsley, whilst he appeared in his early days at Sincil Bank as a goalscoring winger before switching to full-back early in 1954.
Troops, an ever-present in both the 1950/51 and 1951/52 seasons, the latter seeing City clinch the Third Division North championship, went on to make 310 appearances in League and cup competitions, scoring 35 goals including one in the record 11-1 victory over Crewe Alexandra.
After leaving Sincil Bank, Troops had a couple of seasons with Carlisle United and on retiring from football, he was employed in a Sheffield steelworks before his tragic death in a road accident at the age of 37.
