Son of Jim Grummett senior, who served the Club as well as his father, Jim junior was a determined defender, Club captain for a while and versatile when required.

Principally a left-half, he appeared in every outfield position for the Club on at least one occasion and even took over the goalkeeper's jersey when John Kennedy was injured in an FA Cup replay at Chester in December 1968.

Grummett was an ever-present in the 1966/67 and 1967/68 seasons in a run which saw him make 105 consecutive Football League appearances.

In the summer of 1974, either side of a couple of seasons with Rochdale, Grummett plied his trade in the North Americal Soccer League with Denver Dynamoes where he appeared alongside fellow ex-Imps Ken Bracewell and John Milner.

He later settled in the Doncaster area and worked as a sales executive.
