Lincoln City Ladies stepped up the pressure on league leaders Nottingham Forest on Sunday thanks to a 3-0 home win over Manchester City.

With FA Tesco Women's Premier League Northern Division pacesetters Forest being held to a draw by Aston Villa, the Lady Imps took full advantage with the success over Manchester City moving them to within two points of their Nottinghamshire rivals.

City got off to a flyer against Manchester City with 17-year-old Kirsty Richardson opening the scoring from a free-kick in the fifth minute and after skipper Megan Harris had missed from the penalty spot Stacey Aisthorpe bagged a second thanks to a crisp finish from inside the box.

Richardson was then carried off with ankle ligament damage and was replaced by the country's top scorer Jodie Snelson and she rounded things off with her 22nd of the season.
